BULK CARGO CHARACTERISTICS
Bulk cargo includes homogeneous bulk substances divided into two groups:
- food products including flour, salt, sugar, crops, dry milk whey, and malt, and
- non-food products including sand, gravel, talc, polypropylene, polymers, anthracite, and metal.
In this category some dangerous cargoes can also be found like manure, silica, sodium carbonate, and calcium carbonate.
Transportation of such substances requires compliance with multiple regulations. Thus, bulk substances cannot be loaded above the sides of the vehicle and should be distributed evenly across the vehicle body. While the vehicle is moving, the cargo is covered with material that does not allow spillage. TYPES OF VEHICLE
Transportation of liquid cargo is carried out using special vehicles, the design of which prevents damaged or lost cargo. In accordance with technical regulations, liquids must be transported under certain conditions with a certain temperature. In case of violation of relevant requirements, liquid substances lose their properties, go off, and make their intended further use impossible. Therefore, special transport is used for transportation of liquids: truck tankers for road delivery and tank containers for multimodal delivery. Transportation of bulk cargoes is also impossible without adapted vehicles utilizing special tanks for bulk cargo, hoppers, and other specialized equipment.
Flexitanks are not used.
