International transportation and logistics company AsstrA-Associated Traffic AG has been shipping various types of special cargo, including oversized cargo, for many years. Regardless of the size and weight of the load, experienced and qualified AsstrA specialists will deliver any cargo to any place at any time.
That is a promise backed by track record of successful results. In November of this year, for example, AsstrA shipped 16 oversized conveyor belts from Gdynia in Poland to Laem Chabang in Thailand. The largest belts weighed more than 30 tons with heights of over 3.5 meters.
This ambitious transportation project demanded scrupulous preparation. According Janusz Buliński, Head of Sea Freight at AsstrA in Gdańsk, “Such load dimensions necessitated a creative approach to transport. Typical solutions would not work because of the high cargo load point."
The conveyor belts were loaded on mafi trailers and shipped with a RoRo vessel. "Ultimately, we decided to transport the cargo on special mafi trailers, each with a carrying capacity of 100 tons. In order to optimize the use of these trailers, nearly 70 tons of cargo were loaded onto each of them,” comments an AsstrA specialist involved in the project.
The transportation of oversized cargo creates many challenges. As Janusz Buliński emphasizes, "The main difficulty was related to the short execution time. We had to organize empty mafi trailers and perform the loading almost immediately. Thanks to close cooperation with the shipping line and with the port, however, everything was done on time."
