In recent years, Uzbekistan has witnessed significant growth in the automotive industry sector, gradually transforming from a country primarily reliant on domestic production to an active participant in the global car market. Statistics indicate a sharp increase in the import of foreign automobiles into the country, partially driven by the liberalization of customs policies and government efforts to stimulate competition in the domestic market.
International logistics provider AsstrA confirms the interest in importing products from the global automotive industry into Uzbekistan. For instance, between November and December 2023, AsstrA facilitated deliveries to the Uzbek market, including 6 Alfa Romeo Stelvio cars from Italy, 34 Opel Astra cars from Germany, and Opel Mokka from France.
In addition to direct deliveries of finished automobiles, strategic partnerships with foreign manufacturers play a key role in the industry's development. An example of such collaboration is a project with a plant in Trnava, Slovakia, for the shipment of new Citroen models. This project will help meet current demands and enrich offerings in the Uzbek automotive market.
Moreover in December of the previous year, the AsstrA team organized air freight of over 6,000 tons of auto parts from Turkey to Uzbekistan. This not only supports the country's automotive infrastructure but also provides local auto services and owners with access to quality spare parts.
The AsstrA team also regularly handles deliveries of automotive components from Brazil, Mexico, and the EU to Uzbekistan. This crucial component of logistical work ensures uninterrupted car production and supports the efficiency of the automotive industry in the Uzbek market.
"A pilot project for transporting cars from Europe to Uzbekistan was launched in November of last year. The requirements for delivering such cargo are understandably high – ensuring full safety, 24/7 monitoring capability, photo-video reports from transfer points, and of course, strict adherence to deadlines. The coordinated teamwork of colleagues from different countries and departments helped fulfill all customer requirements and receive high praise in the form of new orders for car delivery," shares Yan Pyagai, sales specialist at AsstrA.
Import activities play a crucial role in the development of Uzbekistan's automotive industry. It not only provides access to global automotive innovations but also opens up new prospects for further growth and collaboration in this sphere. AsstrA-Associated Traffic AG continues to provide logistical support for this process, actively expanding its operations and making a significant contribution to the development of the local automotive market.
