At the end of 2025, the transport and logistics company AsstrA-Associated Traffic AG successfully completed a complex project involving the transportation of solar modules from Poland to Ukraine.
The project involved organizing 66 truck shipments. The route included a port and warehouse in Gdansk (Poland), customs clearance in Kyiv and final unloading in the village of Khoroshev, Zhytomyr region (Ukraine).
The transportation was carried out in 40'HC containers, followed by reloading into tarp-covered trucks (FTL). Just before the start of the shipments, the destination customs office changed, increasing the detour by 500 km. AsstrA team promptly responded to this unforeseen situation, forming a new pool of carriers for the updated route, revising the rates and offering the client the optimal solution. The panels were shipped without delay and delivered on schedule, meeting the agreed-upon deadlines.
The project was accompanied by several significant challenges. The weight of each container was 23 200 kg, while the permissible load for road transport in Ukraine is 22 tons. AsstrA team developed and agreed with the client on a scheme for redistributing and arranging the cargo from different containers onto trucks. Detailed plans were prepared for the weight and types of panels and all necessary documents were completed, including invoices, packing lists, and contracts for financial guarantees.
The situation was further complicated by changes in the road transport market. Long queues at the borders led to a severe shortage of transport, difficulties in forecasting the arrival time of the cargo (ETA) and a need to revise prices.
“We paid special attention to supporting the Ukrainian broker for the proper preparation of the preliminary declaration and obtaining zero customs duties. Throughout the process, we also advised the client on the amount required for customs payments, taking into account the shipping schedule and transit time from loading to customs. It was crucial to meet the client’s request for the number of trucks to be dispatched each day,” explains Yulia Sorokina, Head of the Ukraine FTL Division at AsstrA.
Thanks to the coordinated efforts of the AsstrA team, competitive rates were offered, the tender was won and all commitments to the client were fulfilled despite a tense market and unforeseen changes during transportation. The project became an example of AsstrA's high professional expertise, teamwork, and flexibility.
