In particular, hazardous substances need to be shipped in compliance with strict regulations and require special treatment, depending on the threat level. Failure to comply with these rules can result in damage to the aircraft and/or accompanying goods and endanger the safety of the aircrew.
The air transportation of dangerous goods is governed by multiple laws and regulations at the national and international levels. These rules classify cargo depending on the nature of the risk it involves and set out the conditions for its transport, packaging, marking, and fastening. These rules are designed to ensure incident-free air shipment of perishables, oversized and heavyweight goods, and chemical materials.
The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) prohibits some toxic, flammable and corrosive substances from being taken onboard aircraft. Air cargo transport involves many challenging requirements that must be met. The high costs of air transportation discourage many customers. These costs are justified, however, when working with time-sensitive requirements for unique aircraft components or critical spare parts, for example. More than half of the air shipments that AsstrA completes are for costumers from the aviation sector. For each client, we strive to provide the highest service standards, the most competitive prices, and full satisfaction.
In case of urgent door-to-door deliveries that should not be delayed at borders for any reason, we offer an On-Board Courier service. For this service there are several limitations that need to be considered:
- Packages should weigh no more than 23 kg.
- Declared values may be up to $5,000.
If your requirements exceed these limits, we are more than willing to find alternative solutions.

REGULATIONS/DOCUMENTATION
Air cargo transportation processes are complex and require careful to attention to compliance with all necessary regulations. Local civil regulations and federal aviation rules must all be followed, as must national and international regulations on codes, certifications, and licensing.
The Chicago Convention on International Civil Aviation, the Warsaw Convention for the unification of certain international air carriage rules, and some ICAO regulations carry international legal force. AsstrA ensures that clients are compliant with them all. Our customers can be confident that they will not experience legal complications with their shipments. Likewise, we take responsibility for satisfying all documentation requirements related to shipping, waybills, and customs declarations.
