International transportation and logistics services provider AsstrA-Associated Traffic AG summarizes its results for 2017.
Last year, AsstrA reported annual revenues of 250 million euros, a 35% increase on the analogous results from 2016. The company’s sales revenue increased by 25% on the previous year.
Invariably, road transportation offerings receive the most interest from Clients and accounted for 81% of the company’s total revenue generated through all modes of transport. In 2017, the company transported 114,900 cargoes via road, 4,300 were shipped in containers, 4,000 by air, and 3,900 via intermodal solutions. The company also completed 1,300 orders for rail transportation. The total amount of cargo transported reached 3.8 million tons, and increased of 8.6% vs. 2016.
AsstrA-Associated Traffic AG group serves over 1,100 transportation lanes all over the world. Statistics from 2017 show that the highest demand for transport is between Poland and Russia, with over 6,000 shipments completed. There were 4,400 shipments between Italy and Russia, 3,700 between Belarus and Russia, 3,600 between Germany and Russia, and 2,700 between Italy and Poland.
The annual results showed that the highest share of transported cargo was destined for use in the machinery and electrical engineering industries – 18,28%. 11.34% of transported cargo was for the wood and paper industry, and 10.65% was related to rubber goods and plastics.
AsstrA specialists completed around 5,000 express delivery orders, an increase of 27 200% on 2016. A surge of interest in express delivery was definitely due to the growing popularity of e-commerce and increased demand for fast deliveries.
The demand for express container deliveries from China also increased significantly and resulted in 2,500 such shipments handled by AsstrA. The amount exceeds last year’s result by 1 900%. What is more, the amount of orders for oversized cargo logistics projects increased 1 725%.
The continuous growth of China’s position on the world market is also a point worth attention.
Express container trains offer faster delivery times than sea transport and lower costs than air transport.
AsstrA significantly expanded its capabilities by contributing to the development of the rail service provided on Trans-Siberian railway. For this work, the company received official thanks from the Coordinating Council on Trans-Siberian Transportation (CCTT) and a certificate confirming AsstrA’s participating status within the association. These factors contributed to an increase in rail transport demand among Clients.
AsstrA-Associated Traffic AG’s reputation for successfully completing complex projects has led to an increase in oversized cargo transportation orders. This type of shipment accounted for around 3% of the company’s total 2017 revenue. The plan is to increase this percentage to 5% by the end of 2018.
“For our company, 2017 was a year full of complicated and irregular issues. However, it helped us to achieve a new level of professionalism, expand our current mental horizons, and initiate innovative prospective projects with new approaches,” said AsstrA CEO Dimitry Lagun. “In 2018, we are planning to make progress in alignment with our trade-lane management philosophy. Currently, we offer universal logistics solutions for over 1100 different routes. We are not, however, going to rest on our laurels.”
AsstrA’s strategy for the next 3 years emphasizes key trade lanes. Geographical expansion is planned not only in Europe but also the CIS and the USA. The company is striving to strengthen its capabilities for industry-specific projects in which AsstrA specialists offer logistics services tailored to, for example, chemicals, machinery, or metallurgical engineering. The plans also call for increased transportation orders for equipment, agricultural products, consumer electronics, and white goods.
At the beginning of 2018, AsstrA strengthened its network of representatives with a new office in Romania and new agents in Spain, Austria, China, and Russia. Currently, the multinational has a presence in countries across the CIS, Europe and Asia.
AsstrA has also increased the scope of its all-risks cargo insurance policy covering the company’s activities as a shipping agent and transporter. Now AsstrA has an insurance policy for 3 M euro, an amount three times greater than before. The insurer is Zürich Versicherung-Gesellschaft AG.
