Spinners (originally known as fidget spinners) are small, symmetrical toys with several lobes designed to spin easily around its center, which is a ball-bearing. Katherine Hettinger, an American chemical engineer by training, has been credited with inventing the device in the 1990s with her daughter in mind.
The December 2016 issue of Forbes magazine popularized spinners in an article describing spinners as the "must-have office toy of 2017." According to some experts, the toy can help users cope with stress. Opinions vary, however, with others viewing spinners simply as a distraction.
Either way, there was a global surge in demand for the gadgets in 2017. In May, some Chinese factories typically producing cell phones and accessories switched over to manufacture spinners.
Home appliance manufacturer Spirit ordered almost three tons of spinners to be delivered from Qingdao airport in China to Moscow, with AsstrA providing a full range of transportation and logistics services.
First, AsstA experts worked out several shipping options in order to identify the optimal logistics solution. In this case, it was by air at the request of the Client.
AsstrA began the process with pre-consolidation of the cargo at a warehouse in China. Our close Partnerships with Chinese companies allowed conditions quite satisfactory to the customer.
AsstrA's next step was export shipment preparation, which included collecting the goods at the warehouse, weighing them, overseeing customs clearance, and finalizing the export process.
After delivery of the cargo at the destination airport, we moved on to the final stages of the project: overseeing payments at the terminal according to the relevant customs transit procedures, transportation through the customs office, and onward delivery of the cleared cargo in Moscow.
Thanks to the coordinated work of the team, execution of the project was smooth and calm, as appropriate for a large shipment of stress-reducing spinners.
"Despite the large volume of cargo and the urgency of the order, delivery was successful. There was close contact with the Client throughout the process with many issues being addressed. As it was the Client's first experience using air transport there was some initial tension, but our competence put everyone's mind at ease and resulted in a timely delivery. According to the Client, we exceeded all expectations," said Olesya Rasevic, Key Account Manager in AsstrA's High-Tech Logistics Division.
International transport and logistics provider AsstrA offers a full range of logistics services backed by over twenty years of experience.
